World view
[edit]In the UK, a "clinical professor" means a professor who is also a qualified medic. I don't know what they call professors who are qualified lawyers. Qwfp (talk) 10:29, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
This article is highly deficient in any sort of world view. It doesn't even provide, as far as can be seen, a US view, being referenced only from a 2004 appointments policy of the Medical College of Georgia, now unavailable online. Suitable case for deletion? - Clinical Professor → Clinical professor (move (@subpage)) – Common noun – Tony (talk) 10:05, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
Just to add here, I have been teaching in the UK for ten or more years now, and I have never heard this use of "clinical". I can't imagine anybody thinking about anything else than a medical professor for the clinical subjects when hearing "clinical professor". Searching google, the first entry for "clinical professor" is this wikipedia page, the next three entries give definitions as follows: "A clinical assistant professor is a university-level educator who teaches in a particular clinical field.", "Clinical professors are college professors who provide instruction in a clinical environment and generally are employed in a full-time position", "Clinical Professors are persons of eminence in the health profession who are making outstanding contributions to teaching". Next one is a quora question "In a medical school, what is the difference between a professor and a clinical professor?" That all sounds pretty medical for me. Is there any proof for this title being used elsewhere, at least in the US?2001:7D0:8891:2300:EEB1:D7FF:FE35:34F9 (talk) 17:44, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
